In 1999, Professor Longe helped to establish Igbinedion University, Okada, where he was appointed Dean, College of Arts and Social Sciences; Dean, College of Business and Management Studies; Acting Dean, College of Law; Director, General Studies and Head, Department of English. 
He has published widely internationally and written many books, including English Language and Communication (with Ogo A. Ofuani).  He has produced several PhD degree holders, some of whom are now lecturers in the department.  His specialisations include Varieties of English and English for Specific Purposes.
He is also a member of many national and international academic associations, including the Nigerian Academy of Letters (N. A. L.), Nigerian English Studies Association (N. E. S. A.), International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (I.A.T.E.F.L.), British Association of Applied Linguistics, and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (T.E.S.O.L.).Professor Longe has consulted for many organisations such as JAMB and NUC, and has remained a consultant trainer and examiner for the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (A. S. C. O. N.), Badagry, Nigeria Professor Longe has served as Examiner to many Colleges of Education and Universities in Nigeria, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.Professor Longe is married with three children. His hobbies include classical music and swimming..
