Deputy Governor Commends Art Lecturer

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon (Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu has commended Mrs. Theresa uvbi Osaigbovo, Textile lecturer, Department of fine/ applied Arts, University of Benin, while acknowledging and appreciating a Souvenir presented to him in commemoration of Nigeria at “52”.
 His Excellency, The Deputy Governor also seized the opportunity to commend the management and staff of the University of Benin, Benin City, for the immense contribution of the University to educational development in Nigeria.
 

VISIT CENTRE FOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY FOR VARIOUS TEACHING AND LEARNING AIDS

 

Members of the University of Benin Community are reminded on the need to visit the Centre for Educational Technology for different teaching and learning Aids. Such aids include, slide/digital projector, flip charts, screen, CD player e.t.c.
The Centre for Educational Technology is located within the former Central Cafeteria Building (popularly referred to as Basement).

USPROC deadline

CAUSE is happy to announce its fourth biennial Undergraduate Statistics PROject Competition (USPROC). The purpose of USPROC is to encourage the development of data analysis skills, to enhance presentation  skills, and to recognize outstanding work by undergraduate statistics students.  Prizes in the 2013 competition will be awarded in two separate divisions: one for long-term undergraduate research projects (e.g.

Remote Sensing

As part of efforts to tackle ecological problems in Nigeria, the National Centre for Remote Sencing Jos, has signed an M.O.U with the University of Benin. The team led by the Executive Director of the Agency Mr Emmanuel Gajere says the essence of the collaboration with the University is to expose both undergraduates and young lecturers to space technology.

Transformer Donation

Edo State Directorate of the Niger Delta development Commission NDDC has donated two 300KVA transformers to the University of Benin.

Assistant Director, Community and Rural Directorate Peter Edieya officially handed over the two 300KVA transformers to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Osayuki Oshodin at the Ugbowo Campus of the University.

Delegates of Science and Technology Research partnership for sustainable Development (SCATREPS) Prof. Ishizuka Mayaumi and Dr. Shouta Nakayama of Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan has paid a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor University of Benin, prof. Osayuki Oshodin

Head of the Delegation Prof. Mayumi told the Vice-Chancellor that the team was at the University to liaise with the University of Benin, Nigeria research team to promote international joint reassures targeting global issues with the future utilization of research outcomes.

Admission Into Full-time Diploma Programme In Maritime Studies, Information & Communication Technology

The University of Benin in collaborative arrangement with Generic Technology College (GTC) London has established a Centre for Maritime Studies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT). This Centre which is the first of its kind to be mounted in a Nigerian University, runs a two-year full-time Diploma in Maritime Studies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

We have come home from the Nigerian Universities Research & Development Fair (NURESDEF) 2012 with some air of pride, bringing along splendid laurels and gilded plagues to adorn the University's showcase. R&D outputs on display were for the purpose of assessment, clustered into three categories according to academic discipline. These include Arts and HumanitiesLife Science and MedicineAgriculture, as well as Physical Science and Technology.
