UniBen Scores Another First
Today, students from the University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School, were led on a courtesy call to the Conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office by their Principal Mrs. J. Oboite, to see the Vice-Chancellor and present him with the news of their success in the past week.
Among the entourage were, the Principal of the U.D.S.S, Mrs. J. Oboite, the Management team and some teachers and students of the school. The students are Faith Emike Imokhai and Maxwell Ozioma Chibuogwu, who won the Youth Leadership Exchange Programme and are to visit the United States of America and Izinyon Osayinwense, who emerged First at the N.N.P.C. science quiz competition nationwide and Daniel Ibekwe who emerged third position overall nationwide in the South –South Zone at the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company society for petroleum engineers catch the young competition 2012. The Youth Leadership Exchange Programme is organized by the US consulate to increase leadership capacity among the youth and it draws participants from Nigeria and Tanzania.
Receiving the students, the Vice-Chancellor, thanked the students and welcomed them to the Vice-Chancellor’s office stating that they have carried the name of the university to greater heights. He adviced the students going to America to be worthy ambassadors of the country and the school, learn new things and urged them to make contacts when they get there and maintain such contacts. He also thanked the teachers for the commitment and impact in the lives of the students urging them not to relent in their efforts.
