Slider Tooltip Message Formatting Strategy

The GXT Slider is beautiful and fun to use, it can even be passed to a SliderField and used as an input widget in forms (FormPanel), there is however one twist to its API that I think should be looked into in GXT3 and its the fact the you have very little control over the formatting of the tooltip message shown as you drag the slider's thumb back and forth.

Questions For GXT3 - ToolButton Instantiation

The ToolButton widget from the com.extjs.gxt.ui.client.widget.button package is quite cool, providing a handy mechanism for augmenting a ContentPanel, especially as been used as the "header" component in a GXT Window.

Web 2.x Notifications

Some months ago the First Public Working Draft of Web Notifications was published. The idea behind this specification is to let web applications integrate with the notification system of the operating system. Or with a third-party system (e.g. Growl on Mac OS X). As there has been some confusion in the past I should stress that this is solely an API for showing a message to the user that e.g. a new email or instant message has arrived. This is not push technology; it is not for streaming data over the network.

Questions For GXT 3 - Constraining Windows To A Container,

The GXT Toolkit provides a Window widget and robust API for creating cool windows. The API allows us to make a window that is draggable but constrained to the browser viewport, thus you can drag the window abitrarily across the screen but none of it's edges will go outside the viewable area of the browser (viewport).

Ascending Maps V3 API With RockClimbr

It's been fun building with the new Google Maps V3 API, I'll say RockClimbr is gathering momentum ascending quite well; my only wish was to get it ready for the DevFest follow-up competition.  Built  with PHP n' MySQL on windows and JQuery 1,4, I thinki it'll turn out to be valueable for it's cause.

Building Maps With JQuery

The DevFest 2010 Lagos event has come and gone, but we are still brainstorming on some of the ideas still brewing in our minds. With just a fews days (hours actually) before the deadline for the submission of our fully formed "prototypes", I can't help but remember the bug I had during the conference while building my map app.

Google DevFest 2010

The University of Benin was well represented at Google DevFest 2010, we had the opportunity to share ideas with local and foreign developers over several Google technologies.

The workshop featured local and international speakers from Google, Ushahidi, World Bank, and of course a very enthusiastic developer audience

Google DevFest 2010 Lagos

It was very geeky and fun during the Google led DevFest conference which held at Chams City PLC, Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria last weekend. I learnt a lot, and got inspired about several Google technologies which I actually already know before now.

The workshop featured local and international speakers from Google, Ushahidi, World Bank, and of course a very enthusiastic developer audience.

A HTML5 Primer for the Overwhelmed

With Google and Apple strongly supporting HTML5 as the solution for rich applications for the Internet, it’s become the buzzword of the month — particularly after Google I/O. Given its hot currency, though, it’s not surprising that the term is starting to become unhinged from reality.
