The Possible role of lipids in the oviposition of Callosobruchus maculatus was investigated. Although C. maculatus was attracted to increasing concentration of cowpea Vigna unguiculata lipid, it was repelled by a similar increase in the concentration of soya bean, Glycine max lipid. Both the low and high concentrations of groundnut; Arachis hypogea lipid repelled C. maculatus. Maize, Zea mais also repelled C. maculatus. These results are discussed.
