Information development places a nation in an advantageous position, for it shapes the industrial, administrative, social, commercial, ecological and capital status of a nation. It is therefore necessary for developing countries to prepare and sincerely develop all its educational resources and to provide information technological facilities to improve productivity. However the gap in the gender population involved with information technological activities in the developing countries continue to change drastically across the world.

GENDER PARTICIPATION IN AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION ACTIVITIES OF ONDO STATE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ADP): IMPLICATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Participation of members of farming households in agricultural extension activities which are learning situations is crucial to sustainable development. The study analyzed household gender participation in selected agricultural extension activities (farm & home visit, group meetings, Small Plot Adoption technique, field days, radio programmes, extension publications, problem diagnosis and On Farm Adaptive Research) of the Ondo State Agricultural Development Programme (ODSADEP). A multistage process involving simple random sampling technique was used to select 216 households.

GENDER INVOLVEMENT IN HOME GARDENING IN SOUTHERN GEO-POLITICAL ZONE OF EDO STATE, NIGERIA: IMPLICATIONS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT*

Home garden (hg) though seems small enterprise could contribute to MDGs via food security, poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability as every household has the potential to establish one. The study therefore analyzed gender involvement in home gardening and its implications for environmental sustainability in the southern zone of Edo State, Nigeria. The sample for the study comprised 145 households randomly selected through a multistage process. Data was collected using structured questionnaire and interview schedule.
