A Computer Aided Design (CAD) of a completely closed cavity forging die by the Die Expansion Method

A Computer Aided Design (CAD) of a completely closed cavity forging die by the Die Expansion Method was used to select the optimum interface diameters in composite dies and punch/counterpunch dimensions in order to have minimum die expansion. Given a set of forging conditions such as forging load, product dimensions, product
tolerance on height or thickness, product material flow stress, die material and others, the CAD package developed can allow the selection of an appropriate die that will give minimum die expansion ( or maximum product accuracy) and produced at minimum cost for axisymmetric forgings.
