A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SOME SELECTED PRIVATE AND PUBLIC JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

Pp 121 – 130. his study investigated the academic performance of some selected private and public Junior Secondary III Students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Purposive sampling procedure was adopted to select ten out of fifteen (15) registered private schools. A simple random sampling procedure was adopted to select 10 Public Junior Secondary Schools out of the existing 13 in Egor Local Government Area. The Junior Secondary School Certificate results of the selected schools were analysed for three consecutive years, 1996-1998. Data
analysis was carried out using Wilcoxon’s Test for paired observation, which determined whether or not there was difference and its magnitude.
