CATARACT SURGERY BY RESIDENT OPHTHALMOLOGIST-EXPERIENCE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN TEACHING HOSPITAL, NIGERIA

Two hundred and seventy-eight (278) consecutive cataract extractions, (Intracapsular and Extracapsular extraction) in 229 patients were carried out in a 30 months period (Jan. 1986-June 1988) at the University Of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City (UBTH), Nigeria 114 of these were carried out by Registrar and Senior Registrar grade ophthalmology Residents while the remaining 164 were by Consultant Ophthalmologists.
